2023 Boston Marathon Mile 20

I showed up to mile 20 just before the roads closed.

I found a good parking spot down by the church, a few minutes walk from Heartbreak Hill run co. and bundled up with a few layers including a raincoat. Showers were on the horizon for the 127th running of the Boston Marathon.

I found a good spot along the rail where I could create images of the runners, riders, and spectators in a creative thoughtful way.

Not wanting to destroy my camera, I made a decision that I would stay as long as the rain wasn’t strong enough to make shooting a chore. I shot the Men’s and Women’s elite runner’s and riders, and into the non-elite’s field, shooting a total of 1065 shots before it started to pour around 1 pm. I headed back to the car ready for the 2 hour trip back to Swanzey, NH.

Overall I am very please with the story I told through the lens of my Canon R10 and 70-200 f4 setup. I hope you enjoy the work.

I have created a Smugmug gallery of all the images so that you can purchase images for yourself or as a gift. here is the link to check out the work and click an image to see how they can be printed out as well Smugmug gallery. There are many ways to have the images printed out, from everyday prints, fleece blankets, coffee mugs, and so much more.

It is always an honor to capture images of the Boston Marathon for you all to share in, as well.

I picked up a Canon digital Rebel with a 50mm 1.8 f in 2010 and have been learning about light and shaping it everyday since then. It started as a form of therapy to battle Bipolar Disorder and Addiction, and it has become so much more. The opportunity to share my work and make it available to you has taken years of Soul searching, courage, and Self Confidence building. I hope you find a piece that speaks to you in this gallery.
